ATTENTION: As a result of the current COVID19 pandemic the Delta School District has made the difficult decision to put all academies on hold for the 2020/2021 school year. We thank you for your patience as we have turned our attention to essential education and the navigation of a potential second wave this fall. This decision has not been made lightly as we put our focus on the priorities put forward by the Ministry of Education and attend to required curriculum. We are incredibly proud of our Academy Programs. They are a testament to our commitment of engaging learners through stimulating, relevant and inspiring educational experiences and we look forward to reinstating them for the 2021/2022 school year.
The Sands Soccer Academy has had a successful first two months. We have a diverse group of students this year ranging from grade 8 to grade 12. We are fortunate to have a strong international contingent of players from Germany and Japan who have increased the quality of this year’s academy.
So far this year we have focused on proper body position when receiving the ball and then making quick decisions once we have possession. Currently the focus is on individual and team defending. Every class we try to reinforce the concepts learned over the past two months and the coaching staff has noticed great improvement from our current group of students.
In addition to the work being done on the field our students have had the opportunity to attend a Vancouver Whitecaps match at BC Place. We have also had a field trip to The University of British Columbia where the students trained at Thunderbird Stadium in a session run by Mike Mosher who is the head coach at UBC.
The coaching staff is very excited for the rest of the year. The students have all showed a great willingness to learn and improve. If you have any questions regarding the academy please contact me at email@example.com

The soccer academy has enjoyed a successful second year! We have five weeks left and the coaching staff is very pleased with the progress of all our players.
We’ve really emphasized receiving the ball, passing, and thinking the game over the past two months and that will continue to be a focus for the rest of the year. In addition we plan do a lot more speed and conditioning work now that most players are in their off-season.
On Wednesday May 18th we will be traveling to UBC to watch a Whitecaps practice. I think it will be a good opportunity for the students to watch the training habits of professional soccer players. In addition the head coach of the UBC men’s soccer team, Mike Mosher, will be talking to the kids about what it takes to be a successful student/athlete. Lastly, we will have a scrimmage against the West Van soccer academy. I’m looking forward to the day as I think the students will learn what it takes to play at a higher level.
If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to contact me school or by email.
